Chemistry Camp

The University of Texas Chemistry Camp focuses on exploring topics in Chemistry for students in the Austin community who will have graduated from 3rd or 4th grade by Summer 2020. Students will have the opportunity to explore topics at the cutting edge of discovery. Topics for 2020 will include:

  • Atomic Scale
  • Exploring elements in Earth's crust
  • Identifying and classifying elements based on physical properties
  • Phase transitions
  • Experimental design
  • Density
  • Matter & energy
  • Electrolysis
  • Chemical Changes
  •  Endothermic & exothermic reactions

Students will learn about cutting edge science by participating in lab experiences of their own. Students will explore through hands-on activities while making new friends and exploring the UT campus. Campers receive instruction from an instructor, UT student interns, and other UT faculty and staff. Throughout their time here at UT, campers will eat lunch in common areas alongside UT students, explore different places on campus, swim in the pool, and play a sport in the gym.
