Classes and student organizations within The College of Natural Sciences host many volunteer events to support local schools. Events include discovery expeditions to The University of Texas at Austin, Science Olympics at local schools, after-school clubs and special STEM events. New volunteer opportunities are posted each semester on this page. These opportunities are flexible and designed to work with your availability. Please email if you are interested in getting involved!

UTeach Outreach offers many opportunities for UT students, faculty, staff and members of the community to get involved and help inspire the next generation to take an active interest in science. There are volunteer and career opportunities to fit with any schedule. Individuals interested in making a difference in a student’s learning experience should look at some of our opportunities below:

Outreach Volunteer

Individuals and UT-affiliated organizations can sign up to volunteer with the UTeach Outreach program. You will be notified of all events and given the opportunity to sign up to volunteer based on your schedule. This flexibility allows you to determine your level of involvement. We have many science-focused field trips for students every month as well as hands-on learning events for the community.

Outreach Intern

Get involved with the behind-the-scenes workings of the UTeach Outreach program. These opportunities range from creating lesson plans and coordinating outreach activities for the community to spreading the word about the importance of engaging individuals with science in different ways and supporting our efforts.

Club Outreach

If you are a UT student interested in creating a link between UT students and Austin Independent School District students, then this is the right place for you. This club offers opportunities to volunteer at local schools and become a mentor to younger students.

For Teachers

Get UTeach Outreach in your classroom and your school! Each Outreach lesson will complement what you are teaching in the classroom and follow the recommended preparation timeline for the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills examinations. See the UTeach Outreach course.

Our biggest recruiters are the people who have participated or worked with the program. UTeach Outreach alumni know the impact we have in our community and our dedication to engage our community to learn about science.
