My name is Noel Ybarra and I'm a third year student here at the University of Texas. I've been with UTeach Outreach for my second year now and being in this organization has been really fun and eye-opening. I would like to make a difference because I'd love to give back to the community. I grew up without much guidance and I barely made it to where I am today. I feel like if I participated in UTeach, I could at least put the effort in to try to make a difference in someone else's life, for the better. I don't want others to go through this scary process of school by themselves. Everyone has so much potential to do great things, and I want to try to release that potential with as many people as I can. Being in UTeach is a great start.
I'm really excited to work with UTeach simply because it's my style of teaching. It's not about giving students specific dates and telling them to memorize them or just giving work sheets every day. It's about guidance and really putting in that effort to teach them, no matter what their background. UTeach gave me that idea that everyone deserves the chance to learn things like computer science. I'm really supportive about that idea and I'm excited I found an institution that has that same belief.
