She joined the UTeach Program in 2003 and assumed responsibility for the UTeach Outreach Course in 2005. In 2006, she began The UTeach Outreach Initiatives Office which is now responsible for all the programs on this site including related teacher professional development and other community support programs. The Outreach Initiatives office supports Outreach efforts of The College of Natural Sciences, Chemistry Department, Biology Department, Physics Department, Computer Science Department, Mathematics Department, College of Engineering, and the Jackson School of Geo Sciences.

Mary has a passion for education, outreach and what our university students can accomplish in the community. "Out University student’s dedication and enthusiasm is inspirational. We focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) but it's much more than that. Our University students help kids believe that they are smart. They show them that learning the "why" and "how" of STEM takes effort and is worth that effort. We are building very successful pathways to increasing access to S.T.E.M. for all children regardless of economic status and opportunity."

Mary loves teaching, creating, nature, gardening, optimism and doing just about anything outdoors.
