UTeach Outreach applies inquiry-based strategies to help the students in the discovery process.

Lesson 1: "Today we constructed bridges strong enough to resist the seismic forces of simulated earthquakes. Students learned how trusses can aid in bridge stability and incorporated this into their own bridges they built using toothpicks and marshmallows. This lesson gave students the chance to be civil engineers!"

Lesson 2:

Lesson 3:

Lesson 4: "Today we dove into understanding more about plate tectonic theory! Students were given the chance to simulate two of Earth's layers, using Oobleck to model the mantle and graham crackers and apples to model the crust. This simulation helped students learn more about mountain and hill formation at convergent boundaries, volcano and valley formation at divergent boundaries, and earthquake initiation at transform boundaries. Students had a blast being seismologists for the day!"

Lesson 5: "Today, students were given the chance to be astrophysicists and learn more in depth about space and gravity! Using a PHET Simulation, students were able to identify how gravity affects the motion of planets. Students also calculated their own weight on the surface of different planets and observed the different gravitational pulls of each planet. These activities helped students understand how mass and distance affect the force of gravity!"
