UTeach Outreach keeps a positive environment for the students to grow individually and makes teaching and learning in the classroom fun!
Lesson 1: Today we learned about Natural Selection! We began by modeling Natural Selection with a paper bag activity to show how predators select prey that are easily visible. We also played with a computer simulation to explore the relationship between changing traits in bunnies and their survival in a variety of environments. By experimenting with different traits, students learned how selection factors play a key role in Natural Selection. While reviewing our findings, we learned vocabulary words like limiting factor, adaptive radiation, and mutation by relating these terms to our paper bag activity and the computer simulation. At the end of today's lesson students were able to explain these terms and what Natural Selection means. The lesson was fun, engaging, and educational. We all had a great time teaching and learning together!
